Future Visions Quilt

Various sites, Melbourne, 2006-8

The Future Visions Quilt was a series of projects which used public quilting to draw together visions from Australians about what they wanted their future world to be like.

Participants were invited to paint, draw, or write their own positive visions onto squares of calico material, which were then collated and constructed into several beautiful quilts, each which displayed a diversity of progressive visions.

The first quilt project was run in 2006 to produce the quilts as 'positive alternatives' to the narrow economic visions that the G20 leaders meeting in Melbourne was promoting at the time.

The second quilt project was run at the Sustainable Living Festival 2008 with a focus on sustainability.

The third quilt project was run at the CERES Environment Park's Harvest festival as an activity to capture positive visions emerging from the community festival.
